Signal Hill Storm Damage Repair
Strong wind and hard rain can raise shingles, break tiles and drive water beneath flashing. We do a roof inspection, photograph the storm's damage, repair what's urgent and help you schedule the rest, so a single storm doesn't become a hurried, expensive project.
What storm damage repair covers
Storm damage repair means fixing what wind, flying debris and driving rain did to your roof. Most of it starts small. A few lifted shingles. A cracked ridge tile. A pipe boot torn loose. Left alone, each one lets water reach the underlayment and the wood deck under it, and that is where a small fix becomes a big one.
Around here the trouble usually shows up after a hard winter rainstorm or a dry, gusty wind spell. We look at the whole roof, not just the spot you noticed. Then we sort the damage into two lists: what needs fixing before the next rain, and what can be scheduled. Both go on paper, so you can budget for the work instead of being caught off guard.
If the damage came from hail, our Hail Damage Repair page goes into that. If a storm passed and you're not sure anything happened, a roof inspection is the right first step.

What we take care of
- 01
Each damaged area photographed
Every problem gets clear close-up and wide shots. You see what we found, and you have a record for your insurer if you file.
- 02
New shingles and tile
Ripped, creased or missing shingles are replaced and sealed. Broken or shifted tiles are removed and reset or replaced. We aim to match what's on your house now.
- 03
Flashing, vent caps and pipe boots
Wind tends to loosen these first. We refasten or replace bent flashing, broken vent caps and torn pipe boots, because they're usually the first places to leak.
- 04
Checking what's underneath
Wherever shingles or tiles blew off, we inspect the layer below. Wet or soft decking is replaced before new roofing goes on.
- 05
Gutter and downspout repairs
We fix bent runs, loose hangers and blocked downspouts so the roof drains again. Larger gutter work is on our Gutters page.
- 06
Support with your claim
We work directly with your insurance claim, giving you and your adjuster our photos and written scope and explaining what we saw. Coverage is the adjuster's decision.
Questions about Storm Damage Repair?

Shingles or tile pieces in the yard
If roofing is on the ground, there's a gap up top. Even one missing shingle leaves the underlayment open to sun and rain.
A new stain on the ceiling
A brown ring that wasn't there before the storm means water found a way in. It may be small now, but it rarely stays that way.
Lifted or folded shingle edges
From the ground, look for shingles that sit higher than the ones beside them or show a fold line. A fold tells you the adhesive strip let go, and a strong gust can rip that shingle off next time.
Bent gutters or loose fascia
Gutters pulled away from the house or a sagging section of fascia board point to wind or debris hitting the roof edge.
Damp spots or daylight in the attic
If you can get into the attic safely, look for wet insulation, dark wood or pinholes of light. Those tell us exactly where to look on top.
How a storm repair job goes
- 1
Inspection with photos
We get up on the roof, look in the attic when there's safe access, and photograph each problem. Anything left open to the weather gets covered so it holds until repair day.
- 2
A written estimate, sorted by priority
You get a free written estimate with each item listed. We mark what should be fixed right away and what can wait a season, so you can plan the spending.
- 3
Insurance and scheduling
If you're filing a claim, we go over our findings with you and your adjuster. Once you're ready, we set a work day that fits your schedule.
- 4
Repair day and cleanup
We protect plants and walkways, make the repairs and check our work. Before we leave, we pick up debris and run a magnet over the yard for nails.
What affects the price of storm repair
No two roofs take a storm the same way, so we price the work only after a close look. Your written estimate gives each repair its own line. If the job runs larger than you expected, financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.
- Amount of damage
- A few shingles takes little time. A full slope of torn shingles or lots of broken tile needs more material and more labor.
- Type of roofing
- Shingle work generally moves faster than tile. Tile must be lifted with care, and older shapes can take a while to match.
- Hidden damage below
- When water reaches the decking, the soft wood must be cut out and replaced. Often we only see it once the damaged roofing is removed, and we show you before adding it.
- Slope and getting up there
- Steep pitches, two-story walls and narrow side yards slow the crew and can call for added safety equipment.
Storm repair questions people ask
Do I file a claim first or have you inspect first?
Either way is fine. A lot of homeowners start with our free inspection, because it tells them whether the storm really damaged the roof and about how badly. That helps you decide if a claim makes sense. If you file, our photos and itemized scope give the adjuster something solid to look at.
How quickly should the roof be checked after a storm?
Ideally within a few days, and ahead of the next rain. Minor damage now can let water soak the decking in the next storm. Photos taken early also support a claim.
Will the new shingles or tiles match?
Often very close, sometimes identical. Shingle colors shift over time and some tile shapes are discontinued. We tell you ahead of time how close we can get and bring samples when possible.
Is a repair enough, or will I need a new roof?
Most storm damage is repairable. If the roof was already close to worn out, or the damage covers most of it, we'll say so directly and price both choices. Our Roof Replacement page explains that route.
